ABSENCE: If your child will be absent please call and leave a message with the office 316-742-3291.
AG BUDDIES: We will be having AG Buddies this year with Mrs. Greene's 4th Grade Class. We will be doing lots of fun activities that have to do with "The Farm" and have a wonderful learning experience.
B
BIRTHDAYS: Please feel free to provide the class with a birthday treat from our child during our snack on their special day, I will assign a day as close to their birthday as I can on the snack calendar. Birthdays will be recognized during our calendar time and then again during snack time. We will recognize summer birthdays at the end of the year. Please don’t sed birthday invitations to school unless you provide them for every child in the classroom.

CENTERS: We will have Literacy Centers during our Reading time that will concentrate on our Reading Skills, and Math Centers during our Math time that will concentrate on our Math Skills.
We have several learning areas in the classroom for your child to experience "free play". We will have center time daily where your child will choose which area they want to play in and make plans for what they will do. Children learn through play and this is an important time in the growth and development of your child.

DISCIPLINE: We work hard as a class to make our classroom a positive and safe place for all. We have a clip chart where your child can move up and down for their behavior throughout the day. There is an explanation page in the FARM Folders.
We also have a SUPER IMPROVERS WALL, where your child will earn stickers and move up the wall for showing improvement in all different areas throughout the year. When they have reached the TOP they will receive a big prize and then start all over.
We will also earn stickers, smelly good hands, and prizes for individual and classroom behaviors.

EMERGENCIES: Keep updated information in their FARM Folders and the office just in case!

FIELD TRIPS: We will try and go to the Pumpkin Patch this Fall and the ZOO this Spring. We will also probably attend some plays throughout the year. More information will be placed in their FARM Folders closer to the field trips.

GRADE CARDS: They will come home 3 times in their Wednesday Packets and then be mailed to you at the end of the year. If you ever want to know how they are doing, please do not hesitate to ask or you can check online.

HOMEWORK: Sometimes I will send work home that your child has not finished in class, and I occasionally I will send home a Family Project for you to do together. They will also get letter cards and little readers in their FARM Folders that are theirs to keep at home to practice on.

IPADS: We do daily work on our iPads during center time, work time, and free time. We do several things that would be able to be e-mailed to you, so if you would like them please provide your e-mail on the contact info sheet in their FARM Folders.
INDEPENDENCE: As your child becomes more independent, you will see the pride he/she feels when accomplishing new things.

JOURNALS: We will write and draw daily in journals in the classroom. Please encourage your child to write at home for a variety of purposes.

KEEP UPDATED: Read information and notes that your child brings home in their FARM Folders and Wednesday Packets.

LUNCH: Our class eats lunch at 11:00. If lunch money is sent to school, please label it and place it in the ziplock bag in their FARM Folders.

MONTHLY SNACK CALENDAR: Inside their FARM Folders will be a monthly snack calendar. Please mark your calendar so you know when your child’s snack day is.
MONTHLY BEHAVIOR CALENDAR: Inside their FARM Folders will be a monthly behavior calendar. Please check it daily to see how your child is doing during the day. It will have the color that they are on for the day, and a note if needed!

NOTES: When sending a note to school please make sure to remind your child to tell me about it. I do try and check their backpacks daily, but sometimes it is hectic and I don’t want to miss your note! If you place it in their FARM Folders, then I should get it.

OPEN HOUSE: This will take place Thursday, August 13th, 2015 at
OUTSIDE: We will play outside daily except on days of bad weather. Please dress your child for the weather and tennis shoes are the most comfortable shoe for your child to wear. Please when in doubt about the weather send a jacket just in case it is cold when we go outside.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT: This is important, whether it is helping out at home with homework or volunteering at the school, your child needs your support.
PARTIES: We will be having Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day Parties in the classroom this year. Sign up to volunteer at Open House and watch Wednesday Packets for more info.

READING: This is our main focus–Strengthening reading skills. Your child will be continuously challenged on his/her level. The best thing you can do to advance your child’s reading skills: READ to or with him/her EVERY Day!!
RESTROOMS: We have bathrooms for the children right in our classroom. A child may go to the bathroom anytime they need to, but must always let an adult know first. Just in case your child may have an occasional accident, please send a change of clothes in their backpacks so that they can feel more comfortable about the situation. We do have extra clothing in the nurse’s office also.
RECESS: We have two recesses during the day. 11:30-11:50 & 2:00-2:20.

SNACK: We will have a snack everyday from 2:20-2:55. I ask that you provide the snack for the class twice a month. I will send home a monthly calendar in their FARM Folders. If you forget about the snack we will have extra in the classroom.
Show-N-Tell: We will have this everyday right before we head out the door. They can show us something or tell us about something. They will be allowed to show us and tell us one thing about the item to save time. If they choose to bring an item, then they will not be allowed to take it out of their bags until show-n-tell time. It will not be allowed to go outside for recess so that they do not lose or break it. They are only allowed to bring an item if it fits in their bags, unless you have contacted me ahead of time. If their item is an animal from home, then as long as yo let me know, then you may bring them for a visit.

TRANSPORTATION: If your child has any changes in transportation please let the school know as soon as possible.

UH-OH: Your child will be learning lots of new skills and responsibilities this year. My expectations are high, but realistic, so don’t worry. I expect us all to make mistakes and learn from them.

VISITORS: We love having parents come in and visit. Please make sure and sin in the office before heading down to our room.

WRITING: Writing is closely connected to reading. I’ll be challenging your child as well in this area.

eXITS: Parents may exit and enter the building through the doors by the office. If you are picking up your child at the end of the day, you may do so in the East Parking Lot.

ZZZ: Be sure your child is getting plenty of rest for school. Setting and keeping a bedtime is a wonderful gift you can give to your child.
